This would work whereby there is an element when a customer registers on the site to choose if they want a wholesale or retail account. Later, when logging in, the system will be able to
tell if the customer is wholesale or not by their login. If they are wholesale, they will see products sold in different amounts (e.g. packs of 10), different shipping options, etc. as a priority for them.

Here are the essential features for the site.
A link on the front page saying "To become a wholesale customer click here". This leads to the 'Wholesale form' page
On the wholesale application page the potential wholesale customer fills in a form requesting wholesale status. The form contents are sent to clients via email. The client then contacts the potential wholesale customer - if they are satisfied with the response, they add the customer in the backend, and email them user/password details to access the wholesale site. Backend functionality to add wholesale customers are provides
When users visit the site, there will be a 'wholesale login' link. This will open a page where the user can enter their login details, and then be taken to the wholesale version of the site. If the login fails, they will taken to the wholesale application page. If wholesale login is successful, the customer is taken to a different frontpage
Wholesale pages will have different top banner and background gif.
Each product in the backend will need a 'wholesale price' field
The wholesale site displays the contents of the wholesale price field instead of the normal, retail price
Shipping options are just by weight. Free delivery option to instructors are removed in wholesale version
There needs to be free delivery over a certain value. Functionality for free delivery over a certain value can be set in the backend
The 2 special products recently created will not appear in the wholesale version of the site
VAT - wholesale prices do not include UK Value Added Tax. A VAT entry field for each product is calculated automatically at 17.5% of the product price. Each product (only in the backend) will have a checkbox for VAT exemption. If this box is checked in the backend, there will be zero VAT on that product (This is because some products do not have VAT put on them).The VAT amount is added to the product price to give a total in the shopping cart, and any order confirmation email.
