Digital
Digital technology is mainly used in media, such as satellite and fibre optic transmission. Electronic technology is described by digital that transfers, stores, and processes data in terms of two states. The two stages are:
• Positive (on)
• Non-positive (off)
Positive is represented by the number “1″ and non-positive is expressed by the number “0″. This method is also known as binary system. In digital technology, the data are stored or transmitted in the form of 0’s and 1’s. Either 0 nor 1 is referred to as a bit.
The complement of a logic 0 is a logic 1 and the complement of a logic 1 is a logic 0. Inverters are commonly used to invert or complement signals within a circuit.
The 0s and 1s of digital data is just on and off. These are normally represented as a 0 for off, and 1 for on. It is also sometimes represented by a true or false conditions. When information, music, voice and video are turned into binary digital form, they can be electronically manipulated, preserved and regenerated perfectly at high speed. The differences between the digital and analog are the method of input, data storage and transfer, the internal working of an instrument, and the kind of display.
Computers are digital devices, because they perform all calculations using 1’s and 0’s. The millionth copy of a computer file is exactly the same as the original. The digital information offers, the most common way of storing and reading data.
A modem is used to convert the digital information into analog signals for the phone line and to convert analog signals to digital information for the computer.
